Under 5 Minutes: Create a Facebook Fan Page for Your Website or Blog

Creating a Facebook page for your website or blog is a great way to interact with your visitors and drive traffic to your site. Even with these benefits, there are lots of webmasters who still haven’t setup a Facebook fan page for their site. I promise, it’s VERY easy to do, and in this article I’m going to show you step-by-step how to create a Facebook page for your website or blog in less than 5 minutes.

How to Create a Facebook Page Step-by-Step:

  1. Sign into your Facebook account (or create a Facebook account if you don’t already have one)
  2. On your Facebook home page, look on the left menu for the “Pages” link. It looks like this:
  3. Facebook Pages Link

  4. Next, click the “Create a Page” button on the top right of this page (or use this link to create a page)
  5. Facebook Create a Page Button

  6. On the next page you’ll see 6 large boxes to choose the type of page to create. You’ll be able to modify this choice later so don’t spend too much time going deciding which one to go with. For a website or blog I usually choose either “Brand or Product -> Website” or “Company, Organization, or Institution -> Internet/Software”.
  7. Create a Facebook Page Screenshot

  8. Enter your website or blog name. Take a minute to pick the correct name because you WON’T be able to change this once your Facebook page has received over 100 likes. Now, click the “Get Started” button.
  9. You’ll see instructions to set your profile image by either uploading an image from your computer or importing one from your website by entering the URL of the image. Make sure you pick a profile image that represents your website or blog the way you want your visitors to see it because this will be shown next to every comment you leave on your wall.
  10. Next you can invite your Facebook friends to “like” your page, or import contacts from a file. I also recommend checking the option to “Share this page on my wall”, but make sure to enter a brief message describing your new Facebook page to get more likes from your friends.
  11. Finally, enter your site URL in the “website” box and a description of your site in the “about” box. Now click the continue button.
  12. That’s it, you’ve now created a Facebook page for your website!

My Facebook Page is Setup, What Now?

Creating a Facebook page is a great first step, and now there are lots of simple things you can do to improve it and start getting your visitors to like your page. The next thing I highly recommend is to add a Like Box to your website or blog. Just visit the Facebook Like Box page, enter the URL of your new Facebook page, modify any settings, then click “Get Code”. Below is an example of the Like Box I created for the All Webmaster.com Facebook page.

In the near future, I’ll be posting more tutorials on what you can do with the Facebook page you just created in under 5 minutes… For now, if you found this article useful, please take a second to “like” my Facebook page using this Like Box!

  • thank you for the post. I did not know how to set up a fan page until now. I have one. But I guess the question I have is how do i start getting people to my fan page. I have a limited budget and free would be best but any suggestions would be great. Thanks Again :)

    • Hi Stewie, glad to hear you liked the post! How to get people to your fan page is a great question, and I do have a few tutorials in the pipeline that cover that topic. Let me give you a sneak preview and something you can use now. The best way to get fans to your Facebook page is actually the easiest to do: ask them! Now, the important part here is WHEN you ask them. Asking a random stranger to like your page would probably give you a low conversion rate (although some probably would). The best time to ask is after you’ve provided some type of value to them. Say you write a tutorial and teach them how to do something. At the end of your article put an arrow pointing to the like button and write something like, “if you found this tutorial useful please like my facebook page as a thank you”. It works like a charm. Good luck with your new facebook page!
