The Facebook Like button, which recently replaced the Facebook Share button, is a great way to encourage your visitors to share content or posts they like on your website or blog with their friends. How To Send Google+ (Google Plus) Invites

Google Plus Project Screenshot with Border

The other day I posted an article about Google+ now being open to new sign ups again. Now it appears, at least for the time being, sign-ups are staying open to anyone who is invited to join Google+ (Google Plus). In these past few days I’ve received quite a few requests from both … [ Continue reading article → ]

WordPress 3.2 “Gershwin” Released

Grey Wordpress News Logo Thumbnail

Yesterday, version 3.2 of WordPress (named “Gershwin”) was officially released. The main purpose of this release was to clean up the code to make the WordPress software more lightweight and faster. The first thing I noticed about this new release is the WordPress Dashboard has also been updated with a sleeker, more modern look. One really cool feature I’m actually using as I write this article is the new fullscreen “zen” mode. When you activate … [ Continue reading article → ]

GoDaddy.com Toll Free Telephone Number

Phone Icon

Over the past couple days I’ve been doing some stuff with domain names (posts to more details to come shortly…). As a result I’ve been on the phone with GoDaddy.com support quite a bit. After the first couple of calls I checked the Go Daddy contact page and couldn’t find a 1-800 number or any other toll free numbers to call. They don’t seem to advertise their toll free number, but once I started looking … [ Continue reading article → ]

Blue Wordpress Logo Thumbnail with Pingbacks

Pingbacks are designed to be an easy way for you to receive notification when another blog or web site links to one of your posts. This can be a useful way to find out who’s linking to you without having to dig into your logs or tracking software. By default, WordPress is setup to send pingbacks to itself any time you link to one of your own posts internally. Many people, myself included, don’t find this “feature” useful and want to stop WordPress site from pinging itself. In this brief article I’ll show you a couple of easy ways to turn off self pingbacks.

WordPress News: WordPress.org Password Reset

Grey Wordpress News Logo Thumbnail

Today, the team from WordPress.org noticed something suspicious with several popular plugins: AddThis, WPtouch, and W3 Total Cache. It appears that someone found a way to commit fake, “new” versions of these plugins that included well-hidden backdoors. Luckily, the WordPress team is on the ball and quickly discovered there was a problem. They were able to remove the fake versions and roll back these plugins to the real versions. As an added precaution, they have … [ Continue reading article → ]
