Google+ (Google Plus) Now Open to Anyone with a Google Account!

Update (9/20): Google+ is now officially OPEN to anyone who wants to join. No more need for an invitation. Just head on over to google.com/+ and sign up!

Update (7/16 at 10:06am EST): New Google+ sign-ups are still open to anyone who gets invited to join. Need an invite to join Google Plus? Let me know at the bottom of this post I’ll be happy to send you one (as long as they are still open).

If you’re a webmaster, web designer, or in any way involved in building websites, you’ve probably heard a lot of buzz (yes, pun intended) recently about Google+ (Google Plus): the new social platform from Google. Demand for invites to Google+ has been through the roof since they’re limited during the beta period. Well, if you’re online tonight I have some good news to pass on to anyone who already has a Google (or Gmail) account… Invites to Google+ are now open to you! That’s right, if you have an Google account you can now sign up for Google+. However, this is only for a limited time until they reach the new capacity (which they haven’t given any specific numbers for).

News about this started spreading over on Twitter less than an hour ago. To sign up for Google+ just head over to plus.google.com and you should now see a “Sign In” button where you can login using your existing Google account. If the button isn’t there, try back shortly as they are throttling the amount of people they let into Google+ to make sure the system can handle all the new users.

Why Google+ Is Important to Webmasters

Demand for Google+ has been VERY high so far, and it’s also been getting great reviews from users. There’s a good chance a least some, if not many, of your site visitors will start using Google+ over the next few months. Why not get in on the ground floor so you know how the system works. Also, I’ve also heard reports from other webmasters and site owners that they’re starting to see some traffic coming in from Google+ already (Techcruch wrote an article on receiving Google+ sharing traffic confirming this as well). If this upwards trend continues, which my gut says it will, Google+ could quickly become a good source of traffic to your site. I’d highly recommend signing up now so you can start tapping into this new traffic stream for your site…

Need a Google+ Invite?

If you need an invite to Google+, I’m happy to help. Just use the Facebook box below and “Like” AllWebmaster, then leave me a message on the wall asking for an invite. Or you can follow @AllWebmaster on Twitter and leave me a message there. Either way, I’ll send you your G+ invite as soon as I see your request. Once you get your invite you’ll be able to sign up to Google+ right away and will be one of the first people using it! Once you’re able to sign up, leave a comment below and let us all know your invite worked. This will help keep us posted on if new invites are still open or if Google closed them again.

  Yeah, I figured it was at gmail and thats where I sent your invite. It seems like everyone I’ve invited recently has been able to join without any problem, but please let me know if you get it just so we can keep others posted on the status of new sign-ups for Google+
